It's been a while since I could sit and update....

Okay so I mentioned in the last post just how busy we have been around here. I have been trying to stay off the computer and really get some stuff done and some quality time in for myself and my family daily. Do you ever notice how the computer can become a responsibility...well for me it really can.

Anyway we picked up the bowl that Kennedy had made for my mom. It turned out so lovely and I must admit I am a might bit jealous and sorta want to not send it and just keep it (don't worry mom, I really wouldn't do that!) My sil and I have often talked about going and making one of these items for ourselves and after seeing how cool this bowl is I am so doing it. I am making one of these one rainy day with Kennedy. It is lovely.

That is a picture she drew of her and I for my mom. I am just in love with it. Kennedy is very artistic. I love how she is so expressive with her art. Anyway...

I also made a little project for us. As a family the kitchen. like many families, tends to be the hub. I was really frustrated with keeping track of Kennedy's chores and stuff on paper on the fridge. I felt like it wasn't a visible reminder to everyone. But I didn't want to sacrifice style and hang a big dry erase board in my kitchen. So I was strolling around our local Walmart and I found a clearance frame for 12 dollars and I knew I could so make this work..here is what I came up with.

This houses Kennedy's chores, our family memory verse, needs, notes, and photos. I am in love with it and it is really giving us all a sense of ownership over the chores. Score mom!!! I got to get control over an area in my home and I did not have to sacrifice style.

We have also been so busy with our church. We have called a new interim pastor. I can just see God working. He is a good fit and very youth oriented and great with kids. He cares about getting people saved. I am really renewed by this. We spend so much energy on our youth and I see God just pouring out to us. It's way cool. Praise HIM!!!! We had a game day at the house the other day and it was really a great day. We had so much fun, socializing with our youth. They loved playing wii and we played apples to apples. What I love about my youth group is how loving they are to my daughter. They never make her feel unwanted and for me that is such a huge blessing. Did I mention how blessed I am to have been gifted and trusted with this ministry?!!!

One last thing before I go. I have really been praying about being shaped into a more Godly mother. Not that I sucked at the mom thing before, but I want to glorify God through everything I do and right now a lot of what I do is being a mom. My devotionals this week (fittingly) have been about biblical parenting and I loved the one today it gave verses to pray over and for your children . It talked about how moms especially stand in the gap (of prayer) for there kids. I want to make it a point to memorize and pray scripture over and for K. So I leave you with this...

Psalm 63:1 (niv)
A psalm of David. When he was in the Desert of Judah.
1 O God, you are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you,
my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land
where there is no water.

This is what I am committing to pray for Kennedy, this week. (I will share a new one next week)

Oh God, you are my God-Thank you!
I pray that my daughter will earnestly seek you;
I pray that her soul will thirst for you,
that her body will long for you,
in this painful and lost world we live in.
Amen.

Do you pray scripture? Leave me a comment and share one that you pray often.
Until then.

  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving me a comment! Sorry to hear you're having storms there too, I imagine you get it pretty bad there as well where you are.

    One of my favorite verses that gets me through is Isaiah 40:31: but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.

    Have a great Mother's Day! Looking forward to reading more of your blog!
