This past week I have carried a lot of motherly stress. I guess I always carry it to some degree..don't we all? Kennedy has been ill quiet a bit this winter, but for the most part always with the same end result..a Sinus infection. She CONSTANTLY has a runny nose. I am always praying for her to be comforted and that God will protect her from being ill, and I know He does, but His will and my will are just not matching up on this particular subject. So anyway I had to take her to the doctor again last Friday. Her doctor told me "if this were my child I would go ahead with the Adoniod surgery" I did NOT want to hear this, this was the second doctor who had expressed that to me...it was like being punched in the stomach...a feeling I have been getting a lot of lately (good thing I have been working out my abs :)...sometimes you just have to laugh about stuff...to get through it) So after a call to my sister in law (her kids had the surgery last year) and some private moments of tears and prayer and more tears...I called one more doctor. This doctor is both an allergist and a ENT and since K suffers with issues with both areas this was the option I felt God gave me. So we took it. Now we wait a month to see the doctor. I have a list of questions, facts, and thoughts to share with her. Meanwhile we are just trying to keep her constant headaches and nasal issues at bay. Please keep K in your prayers over this you don't know how much that will mean to all of us.

On to happy things, as all you Americans know this week is the coveted Hallmark Holiday of Valentines Day. I always try to take time to use Holidays as teachable moments to teach Kennedy to give to others. We have been making fun treats and goodie bags this week, as well as handmade valentines to send to love ones. Here are some pictures of what we have done.

<--here she is painting for our cards. We had a very bad incident after this painting where K didn't listen and got paint all over the carpet. But I got it clean, and I consoled myself by saying we are gonna put down wood soon so it is not the end of the world...

<--here is the disaster!

We also made princess shrinky dinks this week. I had forgotten how fun those are. Kennedy was just delighted with the process!

Yesterday we worked on some cookies from Bakerell'as blog for Shawnah. Shawnah does so much for us and I wanted to make something really cool for her. She LOVES red velvet cakes so I made her red velvet cookies with some help form Kennedy. Jeremy loved them and I do have to say these puppies were yummy!

Here is Kennedy making the favors for her class.and her friends. I am super excited because tomorrow is her class party and parents get to come. I love to go do those things with K and show her that love and support in the class room. It is really special for both of us. We are going to deliver some of our valentine goodies on Friday..what fun!
<--I made little digi valentine toppers with a Mellissa Bennet kit from http://www.sweetshoppedesigns.com/. I think they turned out so so so cute. They are even better in person.

So that has been our mid week update. I can't wait till Friday when I can post pictures of all the other good times we have had.

  1. Sounds like a fun week. We will for sure add Kennedy to our prayers (Samantha prays for her often anyway) about this matter. I know that surgery, no matter how "minor" to a doctor, for a child is a worry for any mom. We will be lifting you all up as you wait and seek what is best for Kennedy.
