And we're off..

Fall is the start of a new kind of busy for us. It seems we get the most family time in during the fall months. We have had such a great week this week. Kennedy started Kindergarten. We are homeschooling her this year because of her age/intellect ratio. We hope to integrate her back into the public school system for first grade next year, as they will have no choice but to take her-because she will have completed Kindergarten successfully. I think she is doing so well and I can already see a change in her. She has always loved to learn, and now she just seems happy to have a daily task and purpose.

Kennedy also started gymnastics this week. Jeremy and I really enjoy watching her gain skill in this sport. It is just a fun weekly activity we all look forward too. My mom bought her a new leotard. Kennedy was very excited to be able to finally wear it. She looked adorable.

This week during science we learned about insects. So yesterday we took a "field trip" to the Butterfly house. Kennedy was so excited and she was really in the learning mode, applying what she already had been taught and just in awe of the new insects she was able to see. I let her borrow one of my cameras and allowed her to take pictures of the insects. We learned about arachnids, and we watched the movie they show. The movie was cool because it showed a caterpillar morph into the butterfly. I was amazed and how she just soaked all the information in. She had a great time in the butterfly house itself and we just had a great family day.

Kennedy took pictures of roaches, beetles, and praying mantis. I was really proud of her because she doesn't care for bugs.

One of the volunteers was showing Kennedy how some of the South American butterflies were iridescent. She thought that was really neat..it is really neat if you ask me.

I could not get a photo of the Blue Morpho butterflies opened up. I was bummed.

We were there at the right time yesterday and got to see some butterfly just emerging from there chrysalis. Kennedy had never really seen that and she was pretty amazed. We had such a great time. :)
